Ice Report 12/4

It sure was a busy weekend here at Gene's Sport Shop. We were lucky enough to sneak out during the middle of the week and put our fish houses out, and were even able to put a few walleyes on the ice! Most area lakes are seeing between 8-10 inches of good, black ice, and ATV travel has been going on almost everywhere. Most anglers are having success in 14-18 feet of water on shoreline breaks and mid-lake humps in the low light situations of early morning and evening. Big Pine, Little Pine, Rush and Ottertail have been producing for walleyes and northerns, and Big Pine, Star, Rush, Marion, and others are producing well for panfish. Panfish have are being caught in 10-15 feet of water where green weeds are still present. With the forcast showing cold nights ahead, I suspect small vehicle traffic is in the future! We are sitting good on minnows right now with silver and golden shiners, sucker minnows, fatheads, crappie minnows, and rainbows, and also have fresh waxies in stock. As always, call ahead to get exact fishing and ice reports! Happy Fishing!

DISCLAIMER : : There is no such thing as safe ice. Ice conditions can change from day to day and spot to spot. Always use caution on the ice, and make sure stop and check ice depth and quality to and from your fishing spot. Our ice reports should be taken lightly, as this is just what we have seen and heard. Our ice report does not apply to all lakes and all parts of the lakes.
