As we approach the end of June, fishing has remained good in Lakes Country. As the water temps warm
up and we close in on June, the walleyes have started to slide out. Don't get me wrong, there is still walleyes in the 6-10 foot of water range, and will be all summer, but the deep water bite is really starting to pick up. Shoreline points, corners, and mid-lake humps in the 13-25 foot range are producing walleye on Big Pine, Little Pine, Rush, Otter Tail, Star, and other area lakes. Lindy rigging a leech, night crawler, or minnow is producing well, as well as bottom bouncers tipped with a night crawler. This technique will continue to produce for the next several weeks. Also don't be afraid to try the 30 foot of water or deeper, sometimes the walleyes are deep!
The panfish have finished up the spawning process, and can be found on all area lakes in the 8-14 feet of water range. Look for good cabbage weed and try to get on the outside edge, and you should find success! Small plastics on a jig or a good old fashioned bobber with a worm or leech has been working well!
If looking for bass or northern, the outside edge of the cabbage weed in 10-15 feet on all area lakes has also been good!
As we approach the 4th Of July, fishing has been good, and we are excited for a busy weekend and hopefully some good weather and good fishing over the 4th Of July weekend!
Happy Fishing Everybody!
